Orthopedics

The orthopedic providers at Sport Ortho Urgent Care are solely focused on diagnosing and conservatively treating any and all of your muscle, bone, or joint conditions. Orthopedic issues can be treated non-operatively and operatively with medications, physical therapy, exercise, alternate therapies, or by a host of surgical procedures, including some that are minimally invasive and thus less traumatic to the body than traditional open surgery.

The overall goal of Sport Ortho Urgent Care treatment options is to preserve or restore the musculoskeletal system with non-surgical measures before considering surgical intervention.

Clinical and basic science researchers worldwide continue to add to the knowledge of current and new orthopedic treatments to treat problems with the musculoskeletal system and help patients regain their normal activity level and lifestyle.

Although surgery is sometimes required for situations such as complex fractures, ligament tears, or severe cartilage damage, nearly all strains, sprains, pulls, and even most fractures can be treated with nonsurgical intervention.

Some of these treatment options include:

  • Over-the-counter or prescribed medication such as an anti-inflammatory
  • Physical therapy or rehab exercises
  • Corticosteroid injections
  • Regenerative medicine injections, such as platelet rich plasma or stem cells
  • Casting or bracing
  • Using orthotics or compression sleeves to provide support and protection
